This is so sad and pathetic. The almighty rhythm section of Yes with an impostor singer and two totally out of tune guitar players hack through Owner of A Lonely Heart on Mike Huckabee’s FOX show. I mean, the audience shots alone speak volumes. What in the hell are these guys thinking to sink the Yes legacy down to such a low status. Please guys, just retire the brand gracefully before it’s too late.
Man, I'm not even much of a Yes fan and I'm humiliated. Jesus.
ReplyDeleteDid Huckabee call him Chris Maguire in the beginning? What a tool.
Yes - bad
ReplyDeleteYeah I heard him say "McGuire" too, Chris. Ugh. Steve Howe was wise to stay far away from this stinkfest.
ReplyDeleteVery strange and sad.
ReplyDeleteAs they say out here around NYC, Oy vey! Who were those guitarists? I think Isorski could have done a better job than them. And where do they get off playing a Yes song that relies heavily on syncopated keyboards and NOT have a keyboardist??? Groan.... If this is what they sound like on a fairly straightforward Yes song, what will they sound like on Close to the Edge, Roundabout, Starship Trooper, etc.?
ReplyDeleteThe cat was my favorite part.
ReplyDeleteExtreme lameness aside that singer really does sound like Jon Anderson. Whoa.
ReplyDeleteWow! That is really sad.
ReplyDeleteI can't accept that one of the most recognized bands on the planet would sound like this on their own. I'd be willing to bet that some kid at the studio forgot to mic the amps properly. He probably wasn't paying attention because they're "just some old guys...who ever heard of Yes anyway?!"
ReplyDeleteIf you listen during the "mistake" parts, the mistakes are QUIET, which makes me believe the mistake is in the recording of the sound, not the playing (production) of the sound.
All that aside, however, that singer does sound pretty good. I bet he'd fill an arena very well.
I got the impression those guitar players were like contest winners or something, and their "prize" was to play with Yes. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm not willing to watch it again to confirm!
ReplyDeleteI made it to about 2:48 - Yikes - run away run away!
