Next I thought - wow, Geddy can write lyrics! Musically there was some super heavy bass stuff and some ballady types of things, but pretty much what you would expect. My other thought was that he brings a LOT to the Rush equation and that a lot of these songs would be great Rush songs. But I also thought the same thing about Alex Lifeson's Victor CD. So I don't know. I think their contributions are pretty equal.
Anyway, overall the Geddy CD is good - the link to iTunes is here. At least blaze through the 30 second samples and see what you think. Oh, and I guess the reason this was posted in the first place is that there are various reports that Geddy might do a second one. But the closest I could find is him saying he wouldn't rule it out, which doesn't sound like much to me.

I remember getting Geddy's solo CD and wondering if we'd ever hear another Rush album.
There are some great tracks on it but at the time, I couldn't help but think, "This is not a Rush song". Given that Geddy as vocalist, bass player, keyboard player and co-writer on most of Rush's songs, you would expect his solo album would be very Rush-like but for me it sounded more Rush Lite. I liked it, but it didn't knock me out.
A couple of months ago though, I played it again for the first time in ages and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. It's a lot better than I remembered! I guess I was still in mourning for what I thought was the death of Rush and didn't give it a fair hearing. Time to dig Headache out again I think. (And probably Victor too while I'm in the mood!)

Yeah it does age well, doesn't it? I do hear a bunch of stuff that would have made good Rush tunes put through the Alex/Neil filter - check out Grace to Grace. That could be off a Rush album right now!
