They look exactly the same...except Ace looks like he was hit by a truck.
Since you posted this, I could not, for the life of me remember who Ted Neely is. Kinda like running into someone you knew 20 years ago, about whom you can remember every single embarassing detail but can't remember his/her name.
Then it hit me today that Ted Neely is none other than Jesus Christ, at least in the movie version of Jesus Christ Superstar from 1973. I can still remember in high school marveling at his singing abilities and high-pitched screams to rival the best heavy metal singers our there. I saw this guy last spring on a national tour of Jesus Christ Superstar. At the age of 50-something he was reprising his role of JC, and boy could he still sing as if it were the early 70's. Simply amazing. Another cool thing about the show was Corey Glover playing Judas Iscariot. Yes, Corey Glover, former lead singer of Living Colour, a heavy metal quartet of black musicians from the late 80's and early 90's, probably best known for their song Cult of Personality. Talk about two singers lightin' up the stage. Simply amazing.
So, getting back to your post. Is Ace Frehley really Jesus, or is Jesus the former guitar player for Kiss?
