Anyway, the band who made the giant PR blunder of taking on Napster and music fans everywhere a few years back has finally embraced the fact that the dynamics of the music industry have changed.
The pre-sale ticket prices of $91.94 and $71.94 also include a copy of the new CD Death Magnetic and a digital download of the show you attend from livemetallica.com. That is pretty cool, if you ask me.

Isorski - Are you going to do it? I have thought long and hard about buying the CD after not purchasing their past 3 studio albums due to the general distaste for them from diehard fans and what I perceived as them playing to the masses. Whatev. I have to admit, though, I bought Garage Inc. and S&M and enjoy both. Maybe they will surprise me. I can still remember going to see them waaaaayyyyy back at some club in Palo Alto in high school. Jeff Gfroer's band, Havoc, opened, then came Armored Saint, then Metallica. Talk about being blown away!
I've heard the new album. It's a HUGE improvement over the stuff they've released in the past decade plus. I'm firmly on the side of those calling it "their best since Justice," and I'm hardly what you'd call a "fan."
I didn't know Havoc opened for Metallica. Wow! I remember Jeff being so good on that totally crappy blue kit he had. How cool...
Yeah, it's true. I forget what club it was, but it was right on the main drag in Palo Alto. It would have been 1983 or 1984, after Ride the Lightning came out (they opened with Fight Fire with Fire). I think it was me, Danny Spencer, Steve Guertin, and Kevin Brown that went. I have to tell you for a lame high school metalhead wannabe like I was, it was pretty scary and totally amazing at the same time.
