Yes It's True...

Confirmed today by the Associated Press.

Chris Squire says:

"You can't ever really replace Jon Anderson, because he's been such a force in the music business," Squire said. "We look upon his replacement as more of an understudy." Squire said he is hopeful Anderson will be well enough to do shows next year.

Unless they play a TINY venue and/or play a bunch of totally obscure music that Anderson would never do (The whole Drama album, let's say), I will be giving this one a pass.

With populist bands that play music so fans can sing along (i.e. Journey), perhaps this youtube method is ok. But Yes?

With this trend, keep posting those Floydian Slip Youtube clips. You might get a call from one PF camp or another in a moment of need...

Yeah, I hear ya, Anderson's vocals are so unique that they're basically irreplacable.

"TINY venue?" Who would want to hear and see a Jon Anderson wannabe that close?! This is a stab in the back to the co-founder of the band. Hey guys (Chris, Alan, Steve), do some solo gigs or write some material for your next albums and give Jon 5 or 6 months to be full strength and get on with the tour. It's a sad state of affairs when your impatience results in such an atrocity.

I hear you, anon. But I saw Jon Anderson solo a couple of years ago at the Aladdin Theater in Portland, which seats about 650 or so. It was very cool seeing him that close up. I'd go see Yes there if I could get that close to Howe or Squire, no matter WHO was singing. That was my point.

I'm a Yes fan of only about 4 years now, so Close to the Edge and Back would have been my first chance to see them, and I had travel arrangments to Anaheim and everything. I was so dissapointed when they cancelled, I'm glad they're putting together a tour. Obviously it will not be Yes without Jon, but it will be close enough that I'll pay to go see it.

as a long time fan i can say that YES without Anderson is NOT YES! they tried it before on the Drama album & tour (both went nowhere) with the BUGLES guysn. they should be waiting for Anderson to heal.
