I don't know a lot about Buddy Miles except he was in the Band of Gypsies with Hendrix and provided the voice for those annoying California Raisins ads in the 80s. He passed away today at age 60. More info here.

Wow, I hadn't heard about Buddy's passing. That's sad. He played with Jimi in Band Of Gypsys and at Woodstock. The knew each other and played in bands together before they were famous on the "Chitlin' Circut."
Jimi always used to tell him "When I get famous..." Buddy would say "Yeah right!" The two of them were very close.
I'm saddend to hear about this.
